Hi hi, everyone! It’s Friday!! Last week was a long weekend and hence i took some time to browse the beauty corner at the drugstore. I was mindlessly brushing my fingers against some of the Catrice product testers, testing and swatching. This – Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder – literally lit up my face when i swiped my finger on the testers. It was smooth and velvety. Not something I expected from a drugstore product.
A matte bronzing product is something I have been looking for, to add into my makeup routine. Mainly to contour, not to bronze up my complexion. In Asia countries, ladies here seldom do bronzer nor contour. We prefer the clean, fair and flushed skin look. Lately, I realised the flushed skin look was a little to cutesy for my age. Now, I’ll do a little contouring under the cheekbones and a little blush on my cheeks for work.
I’m fair skin with yellow undertones. Finding a product that allows me to do a light contour is, in my opinion, fairly difficult. I actually bought matte finishing powder in few tones darker to contour, but it doesn’t seem to do the job. Prior to Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder, I alternate between The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder and Sleek Makeup Face Contour Kit. But I find TBS’s a little too orangey for my complexion, and the Sleek one is too dark.
The colour selection for this Catrice bronzer isn’t great. It only comes in 030 Medium Bronze and 020 Deep Bronze. To be frank, I wasn’t sure which suited me better, thanks to the interior lighting. So I just picked up the lighter colour out of the two.
Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder, in comparison to the TBS, has a slight pink undertones. Out of the three I have, Catrice is easier to wear for day because of its lighter tone. Its velvety texture does make it easier to blend out. Well, that also means I need to layer it on to get a desired colour finish. Even though it’s called Sun Glow, the lack of shimmer is a true plus point for me. I prefer a true matte powder for contouring. Not a hint of shimmer!
Overall, I’ll recommend Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder to those who wish to contour a little. It’s easy to use and blend out – great for beginner! It’s a pity that there are only two colours for you to choose from.
